Kentucky - A boy aged 5 years in Kentucky, United States (U.S.) accidentally shot and killed his sister, who was only 2 years old. The tragic incident occurred when the boy was busy playing with his rifle.
Victims were identified as Caroline Starks rushed to a nearby hospital, but unfortunately his life could not be saved. Not described in more detail about the victim.
Cumberland County Coroner party, said Gary White, the boys' mother was at home during the incident. Yet somehow, this incident escaped the scrutiny of the mother. Similarly, as reported by the Daily Mail, Wednesday (01/05/2013).
Even more alarming, a .22-caliber rifle used in the incident was a gift given to 5 years old boy, who was not named. Keystone Sporting Arms rifles were given to the boy as a gift last year.
"It is Crickett. Rifle for small children .... The little boy used to sail on shooting," said Gary White explained about the rifle.
The existence of special rifle for children is prevalent in the U.S.. The rifle maker company, Keystone Sporting Arms (KSA), and even gave the name of the gun 'My First Rifle ".
"The purpose of KSA is to instill safety in the use of weapons by young people and encourage them to acquire knowledge and respect for shooting and hunting activities as necessary and appropriate," said a statement on its website KSA.
The investigation found that while the gun is stored in a closet in the residence of the victim. The family did not realize that the boy took the gun. Furthermore, White said the shooting incident was not intentional.
"This is a fatal accident," he said.
