Italian jury Cancel punishment for U.S. citizens, Amanda Knox






Amanda Knox appeal against sentence 26 years in prison for killing his roommate indicted, Meredith Kercher in 2007.

A jury in Perugia, Italy has canceled the sentence against an American student, Amanda Knox on charges of murder, so he was released from prison.

Knox sobbed and courtroom filled with cheers Monday night, when the decision was read. Knox's former boyfriend was also sentenced, Raffaele Sollecito, are also exempt from punishment.

Knox's appeal against the sentence 26 years in prison for the murder of his roommate, Meredith Kercher in 2007. When it goes by what prosecutors called a "sex and drugs party" which later turned violent.

In his defense the defendant fought back tears and told the jury that he did not commit murder or rape.

Independent forensic expert testified that DNA is used to prove the guilt of Amanda Knox are not reliable and may have been contaminated by the Italian police.

Knox's lawyer also said prosecutors failed to show clear motive or evidence linking him to the murder.

Amanda Knox will be back together with his family in the city of Seattle, Washington state.
