U.S. Ambassador to Russia Request Explain So Undercover CIA Agent Problem Embassy staff

Moscow, - Ambassador United States to Russia, Michael McFaul called the Russian Foreign Ministry to explain the existence of a CIA agent posing as a U.S. Embassy official.

Russian government on Tuesday, May 14 had ordered the expulsion of Ryan C. Fogle, who served as the third secretary of the political section at the U.S. Embassy Moscow. The expulsion was carried out after it was revealed that Fogler apparently a CIA undercover agent.

To clarify this matter, McFaul called to meet with officials of the Russian Foreign Ministry. McFaul arrived in ministry at about 10 am local time. But he refused to speak to journalists who stopped him at the entrance of the ministry building.

According to RIA Novosti news agency, as reported by AFP on Wednesday (15/05/2013), McFaul was in the building was not so long ago. After a brief meeting that was, McFaul still would not comment on questions from journalists. According to RIA Novosti, McFaul met with Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov.

Earlier, the Russian Foreign Ministry criticized Washington over this case. Mentioned that the case as "a provocative act in the spirit of the Cold War".

The White House has given a statement on the incident. Spokesman for the U.S. State Department Patrick Ventrell confirmed that a U.S. embassy staff had been detained, but later released and will be repatriated to the United States. However Ventrell declined to comment on allegations that the staff is an undercover CIA agent.
